The main difference between truss cranes and box cranes:
- Structural Aspect: The main beam of a truss gantry crane is welded from angle steel or I-beam. This type of structure has the advantages of low cost, light weight, and good wind resistance. However, it also has drawbacks such as large deflection and low rigidity, requiring frequent inspection of weld points. On the other hand, the main beam of a box-type gantry crane is welded into a box structure from steel plates. This structure is characterized by high safety and high rigidity but has the disadvantages of high cost, heavy weight, and poor wind resistance.
- Performance Aspect: Truss gantry cranes demonstrate their advantages in scenarios with small lifting capacities and large spans. Box-type gantry cranes, due to their more robust structure, are more suitable for handling large and heavy cargo, providing higher safety.
- Cost Aspect: The manufacturing cost of truss gantry cranes is relatively low, whereas box-type gantry cranes have higher costs, mainly due to the difference in material consumption.
- Applicable Scenarios: Truss gantry cranes are suitable for sites with lower safety requirements and smaller lifting capacities. In contrast, box-type gantry cranes are more suitable for large and super-large tonnage gantry cranes, due to their higher safety and rigidity.
